Nourish the Nation is our community programme, working with our long-standing partner Comic Relief*, with the objective to fund initiatives designed to tackle food insecurity across the UK that helps provide communities with access to balanced, nutritional, and sustainable food sources now and in the future. Between 11 March 2026 and 21 April 2026 Sainsbury’s is running a campaign with MOWI to donate to Comic Relief.
How can customers support our campaign:
* Comic Relief is the operating name of Charity Projects, a registered charity in England & Wales (326568) and Scotland (SC039730).
Comic Relief
All contributions from this campaign will go to Comic Relief to help people experiencing food insecurity. Money raised through the campaign will support brilliant organisations, like Feeding Britain (1163986)] and The Bread and Butter Thing (1169383), who will use the donations to provide good healthy meals to give to individuals and families in their communities.
Sainsbury’s and Comic Relief have been partners for 26 years, raising over £184 million to support people in the UK and around the world. Nourish the Nation is Sainsbury’s programme which aims to tackle food poverty and help ensure communities have better access to balanced, nutritional and sustainable food sources. All financial donations from the above initiatives (across Sainsbury’s and Nectar) will be provided to and distributed by Comic Relief.
Local charity partners
In addition to Sainsbury’s support to Comic Relief, Sainsbury’s is also working in partnership with other local charity partners, who are facing increasing pressure to help feed families facing food poverty up and down the country. Sainsbury’s is helping to redistribute donated food items in stores to its local charity partners. These partners range from food banks to community kitchens to homeless charities. Sainsbury’s Groceries Online When ordering on Sainsbury’s Groceries Online, if the MOWI item listed in the above section 1 is not available, Sainsbury’s will try to offer you ‘alternative goods’ similar to the goods you have requested. If the MOWI product listed above is substituted for a product that is not listed above (whether MOWI or otherwise), this will not trigger a donation to Comic Relief and the Nourish the Nation programme.
You may opt to turn off the ‘substitute’ option for individual or all goods at ‘your trolley’ at checkout. We will attempt to deliver substitute products should selected products be unavailable unless you request us not to do so. No donation to Comic Relief will be made if the donating product is unavailable and substitution option has been turned off.
You do not have to accept the alternative goods offered by Sainsbury’s. Acceptance or rejection of any alternative goods does not occur until you have the opportunity to inspect the good at the time of delivery. Where alternative products are accepted, customers should check product packaging for the most up to date nutritional information and allergen warnings, as these may differ from the products originally ordered.
